Lavender Hill

Lavender Hill is a fair-trade women’s sustainable fashion brand providing lounger wear, underwear, base layers, and more.

Tip: Lavender Hill uses European sizing. Use this chart to double-check the sizing is what you need.

About Lavender Hill:

The online-only fashion brand implements traceability on all of its products. Lavender Hill sources raw natural materials and oversees manufacturing in the U.K. and Portugal. Their mission is to make clothes that last and encourage people to buy better quality and fewer items. Lavender Hill is a mostly vegan-friendly company. The website states all of the items except for the cashmere and merino wool socks are vegan. However, it’s always a good idea to double-check the item descriptions to ensure something is vegan.

Female-Founded

Isobel Ridley began Lavender Hill after working at Burberry, where she had firsthand experience in the industry, she knew her company would be different and thus founded Lavender Hill with a set of ethical and sustainable values that have expanded to what is currently implemented today. Lavender Hill’s Sustainability Efforts:

Lavender Hill controls the steps required to produce its items: sourcing, knitting, and the actual making of the garments. The brand has established a 10-point plan outlining its sustainability and ethical policy.

Sustainable Credentials

The brand commits to working with natural bio-degradable fabrics and uses non-toxic dyes. Lavender Hill items are produced in a carbon-neutral environment.

Materials Used

TENCEL™Modal, TENCEL™ Lyocell, Linnen, and Cotton are used in production. Click here for a full list of fabrics used and to read more about their integration of bio-based materials. Lavender Hill also has a care guide to help preserve the life of the items and keep them in tip-top shape, so they can last longer. Be sure to follow their instructions to get many wears out of their garments.

60% of Lavender garments are made in the U.K. Collections are produced in factories across Scotland, Portugese, and Austria.

Sustainable Milestones

Though they are not a plastic-free company, Lavender Hill reports its interest in becoming plastic-free and have taken the steps to switch the brand packaging to recyclable. While the website does not provide a timeline to achieve this goal, it does list as being a supporter of the Terra Carta. This milestone is one to keep an eye on watch for updates in annual reporting.

Take Back Program

Lavender Hill pushes itself as a sustainable fashion brand by partnering with Thrift+ to encourage continuing the life of items so they do not end up in landfills. Those participating in the clothing donation program will receive a 15% discount on their next Lavender Hill purchase.

How does it work?

Follow the steps on this page and request the “Thrift+ bag”. From there, participants will fill the bag with the acceptable donation and register it as directed by Thrift+.  Then, mail it back free of charge to Thrift+. Once those items are received and processed, the company will send a discount code that can be applied to a future Lavender Hill order.
